I fill my diary around 12-15 months in advance (and I feel very lucky and privileged to do so!) but for small elopements or weddings in Scotland or Europe taking place midweek these can sometimes be booked within a few months from the date so its worth reaching out to check my availability!

I commit to a set number of weddings each year in order to give 100% to every couple, every edit and to my client care. If you are in need of some help I m more than happy to just chat over ideas or give advice for your wedding or elopement.

Brittany Wedding at Chateau du Pordor
.
Morven & Tom, Family and friends all flew into The West of France for this absolute beaut of a 3 day wedding celebration in a stunning location between Two Chateau’s
.
We are still trying to catch our breath from this but stoked to be able to share a few quick frames from their day!
.
Quiet vows in the stunning chapel at Le Pordor mixed in with some good Scottish tradition (and banter) heartfelt speeches with a few tears, some Scandi kissing tradition at dinner, good food, wine, lots of hugs, kilts, wild dancing (including a hospital visit!), fireworks, laughter, love and a pool party with good tunes as a finale at Chateau Le Brossay👌🏻

Absolute honour to have been trusted to shoot M&T’s day… Look forward to sharing more soon and to seeing the film Justyna is crafting!

Tucked away in a lush little
Corner in the Scottish Highlands, at the magical St.Marys Space, Cali and Andrew whispered their vows between a small gathering of family/friends as witness and a wonderful ceremony by @celebrantmairi
.
To work weddings in such places with wonderful hosts (thankyou Charlotte and Jamie at St’Mary’s for opening the doors to your home and for you endless hospitality) is a huge privelige. And to create and collab with such genuinely warm couples like C&A is the reason I come back year on year to photograph and film weddings, its an honour.

Top 50! A few frames from 2025
.
I was in Gdańsk last week (highly recommended!) for a short pre-season city break and returned home to an email from Terry @professional_photo_mag informing me I had been included in the Top 50 UK Wedding Photographers list 😵!

I’m properly stoked to be included and genuinely honoured to be all tucked up alongside some of the finest movers, shakers and talented lens wielders in the industry, many of whom I admire greatly and some who Im lucky enough to call friends. Massive congrats to you all. Also super cool that this year @stylecloud.co are involved as sponsors, the team at stylecloud are website magicians and worth checking out.

A lovely lovely surprise as I step into my 20th season at the wedding coal face! Somehow still here on the tools, still learning, still trying to figure out how to better tell these stories but always grateful for the couples I work with and who allow me to wander creatively and trust me to document their day.What a privelige!

The first wedding of the year is in a couple of weeks and after a long Winter (it rained for over 40 days straight here in Scotland!! ☔️) I m defo looking forward to being out there creating again in the Springtime

Woodland Elopement in Scotland

‘Come closer and see, see into the trees, find the girl if you can’ R.Smith

Scotland has some pretty rugged mountains but also boasts some special wooded areas which can gift us some misty, moody vibes… A perfect place to say your vows in a quiet secluded spot
.
D & L ran away to the Cairngorms National Park, stayed in a cute cottage within a mossy woodland and whispered their vows next to a beautiful wee Lochan before wandering above the tops to drink in the views.
.

How is your January going out there?
.
We have just sneaked past ‘Blue Monday’ and the days feel just a little bit longer, daylight now lingering until past 4:30 feels like a treat, as we tentatively eye up the Springtime.. (although there is still very much a Scottish ‘bite’ to the wind here 🥶)
.
Im not massively into shouting the odds or tooting my trumpet in any form (ok… Hibs v Hearts games aside) but I figured as its a big year I would use this to say a few thanks
.
My yesterday was made a little less chilly after receiving an email to say that Ive been nominated for Europe’s Best Wedding Photographer 2025.
.
Im aware there are a million ‘competitions’ out there but this has come from in-secret, un-prompted nominations from within the industry/my peers which for me feels genuine and valid, also the cool thing for me is it is part of the mighty mighty @wayupnorth The biggest, coolest workshop/gathering in Europe and one Ive followed for a long time
.
If you told that young photographer 20 years ago he would still be shooting weddings (still be alive tbh!) I would not have believed you. To be here now in 2026 still psyched and creating, learning year on year, trying to hone the craft, staying humble for couples and just putting in the hard work at the wedding coal face every weekend feels good in itself, but for people to view my work as still relevant and taking the time to nominate it, is wild, especially now as the industry is absolutely rammed with talent, year on year I look out and Im totally blown away. So a huge thanks to whoever took the time🤘
.
And to all the couples, without whose trust and good energy, there would nothing to to show! Im lucky to have worked with you🖤
.
Im taking some time out for the next while, reading more, scouting for new areas, imagining new ways to work, avoiding the rut and the settle. and also investing in some education.

A few frames from 2025

From Party vibes in Sunny Provence to the wild cliffs of the Orkney Islands.

From Scottish Castles to French Chateau’s.. Edinburgh’s city streets to Windswept East Coast beaches
From Glencoe and the wonders of Assynt, to the rolling Scottish Borders and Galloway forest park.
.
Im stepping into a big year… on April 12th it will be 20 years since I shot my first elopement in Glencoe, a fact that totally blows my mind! Its cool that I’ll be there on that day as Im shooting an elopement in the Glen on the 11th so I’ll stay over and go for a celebratory hike! A lot has changed in the elopement space since I was that wide eyed young photographer hiking and scouting for locations and encouraging couples to run to the hills and Im pondering where all this will go next.. but Im keen to write about this in another post.
.
Also, on May 10th I’ll shoot my 800th wedding which is wild. How the F did that happen? Im glad I kept note of these as its something to reflect upon, many ups but also a lot of challenges and deep downs, its not the easy path(for me at least) but the creative working life is all I ever wanted/could imagine doing and I feel super lucky to still be here and all thanks to the couples who put their trust in me to turn up and create for them
.
2025 was full, with lots of travel! destination weddings, local elopements and everything in between. Ive made friends and connections and I hope Ive created something my couples can enjoy for years to come! so many highlights that its hard to put into words.
.
As well as clients from 2025, a huge thanks must go to all the celebrants, Hair/MUA’s, co-ordinators, venues, florists, musicians, planners, videographers and all the rest that do so much for the day and are super cool to work alongside. Also big 🖤 to my partner in life and lens @justynamariaphoto
.
And to @pictime_us for support & for making my blogs and galleries look slick and aesthetic

Im so grateful to still be here, creating with loved up humans and Im looking forward to pushing myself more in 2026.

Happy 2026 out there!
.
Im not sure where to start with this one, a wonderfully warm, welcoming, emotional and fun destination wedding in Provence
.
From the minute I arrived in France to shoot Shailee & Tom’s 3 day wedding adventure I was welcomed in and made to feel like part of the clan. It was an incredible time and so hard to leave the pool party on the Sunday having been in that joyous bubble for all that time, witnessing the love and connection between so many ace people. I stayed on for a few days to explore Arles and the local area (Arles is something of a photography exhibition capital! Well worth a visit!) and when out wandering I received a sweet message from S&T a couple days after the wedding which really hit me hard and made me realise that this job I do really means something, more than I ever imagined.
.
I’ll save a few words for the next post and for the long form blog story in time, but as its the 1st day of the year Im in a slightly reflective mood so maybe a couple.

As I step into my 20th season of weddings I feel more privileged than I ever have, honoured that couples and their families as sweet as S&T’s allow me to step into their circle for a short time to create and to document some of the most important days in their lives.Its a huge honour.

Im so grateful to all my couples from 2025, for trusting me to create and for allowing me in, also taking the time to leave some amazing reviews! It means a lot.
Im super psyched for more big happy & wild weddings in 2026.
.
I have to say a huge shoutout to amazing wedding planner Donya @mrsjonesevents for all her help before and on the day, super easygoing and a joy to work with! Thanks Donya I hope we cross paths again soon.

Scottish Winter Coastal Elopement
.
White Horses raced to the rocky shore, biting winds eddied around the sandstone cliff edges and the ancient Castle ruin was illuminated through the spray by a low afternoon Sun… all these elements added to the rugged feel of this ceremony… Two dresses, leaning into the Gothic(Irene), heartfelt vows and a lot of fun…
.
I&M flew in from Oregon, stayed in Edinburgh city and then braved the biting winds on the East Coast to make their promises under the watchful eye of a clifftop castle..
.
Irene has some strong Scottish heritage (Dad was a proud Glaswegian) and so the inclusion of handfast and Traditional Quaich(filled with Irn Bru!!) during the ceremony was a nice nod to her roots. The official part was crafted and delivered expertly by the legend and consumate pro @humanisttim
.
We then spent some time wandering the coast before heading inland to chase the Sun and then into Blue Hour.
.
Absolutely loved spending time getting to know these Two… and Im sure sometime in the future they will be living here in Scotland… and if the dream comes true…with a field full of sheep to tend to!
.
Hope you are all well out there, Im on holiday in Ireland at the moment but looking forward to sharing more work this Winter, next up.. S&T’s Sunny Provence wedding!!

15th Century Scottish Castle Wedding
.
A&S, hitched between the walls of the mighty Borthwick Castle
.
Quiet vows spoken in the Garrison at the top of this incredible venue, perched proudly between the trees in a hillside not far from Edinburgh
.
A wonderful day with these Two quiet souls…. who(like many of my couples) told me they were super introvert/geeky and would be so bad in front of the camera!.. but who were a dream to work with and the loveliest of people, super into history and old buildings so I took them to nearby Crichton Castle (which was my favourite walk with my Grandad when I was a wee boy, so really nice memories) and they were stoked on that wonderfully historic ruin too!

It was a joy to document their day with thme and families and friends and to work at my most local venue again with Aine and the team!
.
Big shoutout to Julie @acuriousarrangement for the absolutely incredible floral artistry!!!( as always) and great to catch up with her and her partner over dinner too!

A few frames from the epic wee Scottish wedding of S&J who ran from Canada to Scotland’s West Coast to be married at the stunning Castle Lachlan

So joyed to have worked with these guys, such a loving and warm pair of humans with great humour and good taste in literature and beer! It was heart warming to witness their super teary but wonderfully written vows in front of family and friends.

S looked stunning in her flowing and delicately detailed dress with dried florals and J looked the part donning his Grandfather’s original Stetson for the day 🖤

K&C, hitched in a Castle on a wonderfully moody Scottish Summer’s day.
.
A stylish wedding with super fun feels, a touch of romance and some history whispering beneath our feet!
In the glow of candlelight in the garrisson room at the top of the castle, K&C said their vows quietly, surrounded by their people.. post-ceremony and through the great halls—music swirled, dresses swooshed to the max and this fun crew laughed, joked and danced with full commitment!

Mary, Queen of Scots once sought shelter here between these walls and I do wonder how many weddings and events have taken place here over the past 600 years! This was a wedding woven from mist and magic and with such style, so nice to work with K&C and their lovely families and friends!
.
Always good to be back at my most local venue too.. I always feel so warmly welcomed at Borthwick and never tire of working between these walls and in the grounds.. so big thanks to Aine and all the staff @borthwickcastle
