Eloped to Glencoe from the US and found Scotland in her full Autumnal glory! They spent the morning getting ready at the lovely Strath Lodge in the heart of Glencoe. After the morning prep they had a quiet first look and then the reading of their vows and family messages, an exchange of rings and with the help of some airpods and Spotify, they also had a first dance! Moving and waltzing together over the ‘dancefloor’.. a quiet mossy woodland next to a lazy meander in the River Coe.🍁  After this emotional ceremony we disappeared into the Wild to chase waterfalls, sweeping mountain vistas and some Autumnal lux!  I loved how these Two leaned into the Scottish Autumn with full beans, they were keen for hikes and laughs and after a bit of patience high up on the hillside sheltering from the fast moving weather fronts, we found some sweet light hitching a lift on the back of some blustery showers.

After the bracing biting weather we retired to The @clachaig_inn for sandwiches and sustenance before ending the day with a walk into the Blue hour.. looking out to sea with the final slices of Sunlight fading slowly behind the distant hills.

Special mention to my talented partner Justyna, who wasn’t there on the day but actually made Cat’s bouquet and Brad’s buttonhole at very short notice!! A talented florist as well as camera clicker it seems .
Another massive shout out is to Anna @acuinu__ and her Mum Dawn at Strath Lodge, it was so lovely to be back there Anna is a friend of Justyna and I and her Mum runs the B&B here, with Anna helping out sometimes. The last time I was here was shooting Anna and Arran’s garden wedding at the lodge in mid Summer, what a magical day! Where to start with this caption? Im not sure. Its been a year and I still cant wrap my head around that fact, it feels like only last week I said goodbye to R&T and drove away under clear moonlit skies(lunar eclipse for good measure) and snaked my way through the winding roads of the Cairngorms National Park, filled with joy and stoked for these two legends.
.
R&T are both super talented wedding photographers, I first met them @photographyfarm back in 2019 ( Strangely enough it was me and my partner Justyna in front of their lenses that day.. as they took part in a mentor session where we all squeezed into a wee fiat with Jim Pollard and drove to the Campsie hills for the session with loads of banter en route!)
.
They are creative, fun, warm people who are amazing at their craft so it was a total honour(and a bit nervy, not gonna lie) to be asked to photograph their intimate Halloween inspired wedding, tucked away at the stunning Inshriach in the Scottish Highlands
.
But it was so relaxed and I felt super welcome form the minute I arrived.. it was great to meet their families, friends and their lovely Collie Dog (Fergus), to witness those special vows and all the tears(loads!) and to run around for a while in the woodland nearby before fireside dinner, drinks and dancing
.

Ran away to the Scottish Highlands from Nova Scotia and tied (their own beautifully designed) knot in between the mountains and in front of family and friends in an intimate ceremony brimming with emotion, laughs and tears

What a strong and fun and easy going pair of humans, loved spending time chatting about vinyl records and work and life in Canada, also loved how they embraced everything about their elopement and were up for me prospecting for new locations, willing to chase the light into the night, however cold it was! It was also sweet to finish their day with a first dance under the trees before heading into dinner!

A few mostly mono frames from their day, I absolutely loved meeting and working with these Two and their lovely families.
They flew in from the States and gathered for an intimate celebration with a small@party of 14. After a first look, The quiet ceremony was conducted by Marissa’s brother with laughter and tears all in equal measure! before retiring for drinks in the garden. With the family surname ‘Bell’ and her Dad also a wedding photographer with roots tracing back to Scotland we had lots to chat and laugh about! Great banter and a lovely band of humans.

Post-ceremony we wandered the local landscape together with Marissa and Max, marvelling at the rolling hills and Towers of the Scottish Borders, which is definitely underrated as a place to elope to!

A few frames from a sunny day documenting the elopement of these sweethearts in Glencoe

An intimate and emotional ceremony perched above the waterfalls of the river Coupall complete with traditional Scottish handfasting, the oathing stone and Quaich, all overlooked by the famous rocky rugged mass of Scotland’s most famous mountain ‘Buachaille Etive Mor’
.
N&P drove up from England with their Two friends M&L who were acting as witnesses, support and all round good company and banterz They took so well to these hills and embraced all the Highlands had to offer, both adventurous souls who love to travel all over Europe in their old school VW Campervan they have been to some amazing mountainous areas but Glencoe won and they finally settled on here to tie the knot.

We spent the afternoon chasing the light in the Glen before heading to a local Loch side to play ‘skimmers’(throwing stones) and to watch the sunset over the distant hills if the West coast
.
Ceremony was conducted and banter was in flow as always with @andrewdscottcelebrant steering the ship.

A Cairngorm Elopement

D&L gravitate towards more spooky/Halloween vibes… so I was psyched for them when we rocked up in the Cairngorm’s on a morning when the mist was wrapping around the woodland and the mossy walls and we were gifted with some quiet light
.
We absolutely Loved working with these two chilled out creative and fun souls, so up for the experience and an elopement 100% suited them and their approach to life and their love! Exciting times ahead for them too and cant wait to share more.

A sweet elopement in Glencoe, vows spoken into wild winds on a hillside with family tucked in together, dramatic skies, laughter, landscape and tears..

So much love for these two girls, they skipped over the atlantic from their hot and humid home in Florida to get hitched and hypothermic in the Scottish Highlands.. leaned into the conditions with humour and tenacity and revelled in the ruggedness of The Coe.
It wasnt the easiest but their love for each other, for this landscape and the history saw them stand strong and tie the knot in the most spectacular place.

Im shuffling back North again this week, reeling in a few hundred more miles in the highlands, shooting elopes and weddings between and East Coast castle and a West coast mountain range. Im loving van life at the moment, our wee rolling house, parking up under starry or stormy skies and enjoying the peace and quiet of the glens. I definitely feel more immersed and connected to the landscape when I sleep overnight next to mountains or Lochs and often I will pick a spot on the map I want to location scout ahead of an elopement, it feels good to start and end the day close to nature and to the environment I will be shooting in and I definitely feel more creatively tuned with this approach
